ABOUT ME

I’m driven to help people whose lives and needs don’t fit traditional molds find their own definition of success and balance

I’m a recovering type A perfectionist. I was diagnosed with ADHD at around age 16. My junior year of high school I decided to homeschool myself while working in accounting, graduating early. This was my first foray into creating an untraditional lifestyle that fit my needs. A serial entrepreneur, I never fit the traditional mold. Following receiving my degree in business, I had my hand in multiple real estate ventures, eventually acting as President of Boston Property Management, LLC. That is until I became too sick to continue working. Turns out, I was born with multiple genetic and congenital illnesses.

Suddenly, my lifelong struggle to pace myself and my energy made sense. My years of therapy, self-help books, neuropsych lectures, and spiritual work could only bring me so far. After receiving two neurosurgeries in a row, I learned energy management on a whole new level, slowly regaining my ability to function out of bed. I began to learn to tap into my intuition, flow, and inner wisdom in a way that only significant illness or challenges can provide. During this time, I had many long phone calls with friends and connections. People were thanking me for the “coaching” and telling me I should charge! I also ended up moderating a support group for my illness and joining the board of a non-profit that specializes in patient support. I realized that this is the “one thing I would be happy doing without getting paid” but I wanted to learn how to do it professionally and ethically before charging.

From listening to my friends and support group participants, I began to see that the lack of information and advice wasn’t always the problem. There’s a barrage of advice on social media, podcasts, youtube, self-help books, apps, and coaching programs. People finally have easy access to mental health tools, thought processes, and information, but they’re still struggling to embody and apply the tools. In fact, all this information input has folks constantly questioning their intuition, intellectualizing their problems, and as we say in coaching “should-ing all over themselves.” What I didn’t know when I first looked into becoming a coach, is that classical coaching is NOT giving advice or guidance - that is considered mentorship by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Currently, the ICF is the most internationally recognized and respected governing body for coaches. Thus, I chose an ICF-accredited program to learn how to be a coach. The goal of coaching is to give a comfortable and judgment-free space for clients to examine their thoughts and find their own inner guidance. The client, rather than the coach, controls the process. What we learn as coaches is how to help the person we’re working with observe and question their thought processes, beliefs, and emotions. We’re almost like an interactive journal, taking the input you give us and helping you dig deeper. Coaching is a skill that takes practice, and when done right, it can be absolutely magical!
